Yolette, who is originally from Brooklyn New York, studied at California Institute of the Arts and received a BFA in Dance at Montclair State University. She always hungry to learn, taking part in the Vim Vigor summer intensive, the Gallim winter intensive and was a full scholarship recipient for the Movement Research’s MELT Intensive. She has performed at the Bates Dance Festival and at the American Dance Festival, where she was a stagecraft apprentice. Her work was shown at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015, Void premiered at the Here Arts Summer Sublet Services and most recently Judson Church. As a performer she’s worked with Andre Tyson, Sara Hook, Camilo Godoy, Andre M Zachery of the Renegade Performance Group and James Avery. With an existential viewpoint and an endless curiosity, Yolette hopes to deconstruct her preconceived ideas of what it means to be an artist or dance artist. She wants to move away from habitual ways of creating and let new ideas and philosophies take root.
