Workshops and insight sessions

Edge offers educational packages for venues, community groups, schools, colleges and universities giving participants an enhanced understanding of the performance and an insight into creation, interpretation and performance skills.

Practical workshops can be constructed to complement a specific participant experience and current projects. Workshops can be scheduled through consultation with the company but generally take place in the morning before an evening performance or the day before. This enables the participants to gain a deeper understanding of the work before seeing the performance.

Workshops can vary in length depending on the participants’ requirements but usually last approximately 2 hours. Workshops can take place in our touring venues or can be booked to visit you.

In addition to individual workshops, the company is also available for longer residencies.

The students really had a wonderful time and have been talking about it all day!  [Edge] were truly wonderful and really pushed, yet nurtured each of the students, which was wonderful to see and be part of. - Teacher, Derby College

Insight sessions

Edge are available for post-show question and answer sessions. These sessions will give your audience the opportunity to get up close to the dancers and:

  • discuss the repertoire’s themes
  • understand the different creative processes used by the choreographers
  • learn more about life as a professional dancer, touring with a company and the experience of vocational training

The length of an insight sessions can vary depending on the audience’s engagement but we estimate a maximum of 30 minutes.

“Edge were undeniably assured throughout. The whole cast had strong technique and style and some of the performers were exceptional. Had this been a professional company’s bill, I would not have been disappointed.” - Dancing Times
