Andrea Olivares

Andrea is a Chilean scenic artist who has developed her work around the concept of “dance in context”, creating different projects specifically for urban spaces and communities.

She worked for several years with an independent dance collective Anilina Colectivo (Chile), as well as with projects associated with many independent artist and activists. Creating or participating in festivals, performances and artistic residences as an example. In particular, she carried out several interventions and artistic actions carried out in public spaces such as markets, streets, squares and other spaces like memorials or protests. Topics related to social issues and democratizing spaces for contemporary dance have been recurrent in her career.

The relationship with video was born from a necessity to record and compose images and symbols through other materials other than a live performance. Since this she has got interested and fascinated in video and composition as a possibility to catch life, scenarios and people through a dance perspective.
