Finally realising my curated event at Muxima with the help of Leila McMillan! Seeing performers in my year group absolutely smash it out the park with dance and music in a beautiful little cafe, as well as bringing together other artists from outside the school to make a mix match of the talented young London scene. Still amazed that it happened EXACTLY when it did, precisely a week before lockdown began to seep into our lives, and beyond excited to do it all again as soon as we can.
I’m chuffed to be concluding 21 years of education and to form challenges for myself. There's a lot of work to be done in the Contemporary dance scene; facing up to embedded inequalities and disrupting the blatant favouritism towards certain genders/races/bodies/classes; we must keep fighting. I hope to reflect endlessly, write a hell of a lot, draw, and build a creative career that doesn't rotate around the old structuring of the dance world. I will plunge into the daunting world of freelance and do some jobs I never thought I'd do. Plus, move to cities that have my heart (Amsterdam ❤️), and meet people who inspire or collaborate with me to make multidisciplinary events in unusual locations. I suppose the current situation means more thinking about what we can do right now...the future question is a daunting one. But if anyone can seize the coming world, it's the people I've spent 3 years with at this school.
