London Contemporary Dance School alumnus James Wilton is taking his company to Woking to help engage local boys in dance. Company dancer and fellow alumnus Michael Kelland led a professional development session with Dance Woking for local outreach artists and teachers as the organisation try to challenge traditional stereotypes of who can dance. Michael led the class sharing movement from James Wilton Dance Company’s latest production Leviathan, which will be performed at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre on Thu 22 March. The Dance Woking outreach team will be delivering a series of outreach events in local schools teaching James's original dance style to boys, the Schools will also have the opportunity to work with dancers from the company to create their own performances to be presented in the Boys Platform at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre on Mon 19 March.
That's Surrey TV attended the workshop led by Michael to find out more about the project (watch above).
