Alumni news: Liam Riddick wins Best Male Dancer Award

Liam Riddick won Dancing Times Best Male Dancer Award at the Critics Circle National Dance Awards in a ceremony held at the Barbican Centre on Monday 19 February 2018. Liam studied at undergraduate and postgraduate level at London Contemporary Dance School. Upon graduating, Liam joined Richard Alston Dance Company as an apprentice in 2010, becoming a full company member in 2011. He was featured in renowned photographer Rick Guest’s exhibition and book ‘What Lies Beneath’ and has danced for James Cousins Dance Company. Liam was featured in OMD’s ‘If You Want It’ music video.

National Dance Awards have been organised by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle in each year of this Millennium to celebrate the vigour and variety of Britain’s thriving dance culture. They are presented by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle, which brings together around 60 dance writers and critics. They are the only awards given by the body of professional dance critics in the UK.

‘I’m so delighted to receive this Award especially as this will be my last season dancing with the Company. Thank you to Richard and the Company for all the wonderful opportunities over the last eight years and to Martin for being a mentor and a friend.’
