John began his dance training in 2011 with the Centre for Advanced Training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. After four years of these Saturday classes he continued on to a degree course at London Contemporary Dance School, specialising in Improvisation and interdisciplinary practice. John's creative practice is completely embedded in his daily ways of being, and driven by a belief in the power of human beings to grow. Central is a disposition towards enjoyment: life as study, and study as play. John hopes ultimately to empower people to a greater understanding of themselves, a process that is inevitably personal, but also, thankfully, collaborative. John's creative background is originally in music and his most recent research has been focused on Martial Arts and Contact Improvisation. The main vehicles for his work are teaching and Improvised Performance. Some key influences include Bruno Caverna, Ursula Le Guin and Terry Pratchett.
