Jiemin Yang

Jiemin is a dancer, choreographer, and graphic designer/illustrator from Queens, New York. He discovered his passion for dance in college and graduated summa cum laude from Macaulay Honors College at Queens College with a double major in dance and graphic design. He received Farah Marcelus Choreography Award upon graduation. There, he had the pleasure of performing works by Yin Mei Critchell, Nia Love, Joseph Mills, and Edisa Weeks. He was granted scholarships to study at The School at Jacob’s Pillow (Jawole Willa Jo Zollar), Bates Dance Festival and American Dance Festival.

Jiemin has performed a Merce Cunningham repertoire set by Andrea Weber and worked with dance artists such as Earl Mosley, Brian Harlan Brooks and Lucy Kerr. He has showcased his dance works at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center (commissioned by Mare Nostrum Element 2017), Bates Dance Festival 2016, American College Dance Association Conference 2016. As a visual designer, he has collaborated and performed with LaneCoArts at 92nd Street Y, Kaatsbaan International Dance Center and Boston Center for the Arts. He also creates design such as logo, poster and illustration. He aspires to fuse his interests in visuals and movements into his own creations.
