Daisy Moorcroft

Daisy is originally from Coventry, a city she returned to following her graduation from Trinity Laban Conservatoire with a BA(Hons) in Dance Theatre, to pursue her interest in Community Dance. As an Associate Artist for Highly Sprung Performance Company, she experienced performing alongside, choreographing and directing large groups of young people in a wide variety of different settings.

She then trained in education, completing a PGCE in Drama with a focus on alternative settings where she explored the use of cross curricular ‘Mantle of the Expert’ teaching models and the role of Dance and Drama in Special Needs Education. Her specialist area of research included exploration into the positive effects of Kinaesthetic movement practices on student engagement with the KS3 science curriculum.

For the last three years, she has been a Teacher of Dance at a specialist academy for young people aged 14-19 who demonstrate an aptitude for the arts, where she founded Versus, a Youth Dance Company which performed at a variety of regional platforms including UDance. She is passionate about working with young people took a Pastoral role within the school to work more closely for the wellbeing of the dancers.

Daisy is excited after a period of teaching to herself return to education and be a part of the Developing Artistic Practice Programme, where she hopes to expand her practice of Choreography for Communities and the framing of Dance in unusual spaces.
