Undergraduate Admission Process
Applications are closed for September 2021 entry.
The admission process for LCDS is in three stages:
Stage one is an online application form where you input details about you, your educational and dance history, and a personal statement about why you want to join LCDS. You will also be asked to submit a video task. We clearly outline what to include in your video in the application form and in this guideline document. Candidates are encouraged to complete the online application as early as possible. Submissions will be viewed on a first come first served basis and early submissions will be considered for the early Admission Workshop in February.
If you are successful at stage one, you will be invited to stage two which is an Admission Workshop, where we will set creative and improvisation tasks, as well as host a seminar-style discussion as a whole group. The Admission Workshops will be hosted online. There will be three weeks of Admission Workshops on Mon 8 Feb - Fri 12 Feb, Mon 22 Mar - Fri 26 Mar & Mon 12 Apr – Fri 16 April, via Zoom, in small groups. All details of what to expect from the Admission Workshop will also be sent to you via email from our Admissions team.
Stage three is an interview online. We will send you the questions prior to the interview so you will have time to prepare. After your interview, School Office staff will be in touch via email (approximately two weeks after your interview date) with an outcome.
During the admission process we will be looking for your ability to engage in creative processes, demonstrating imagination, resourcefulness and adaptability. We also want to see if you have an understanding of dance in its wider context and a potential for development of technical capabilities and performance skills.
Undergraduate applications open in the previous October before the year of entry. International students should be sure to apply early enough to allow for visa application if necessary.
Applicants are welcome to contact us to discuss any questions or concerns they may have, and to arrange a visit to the School.
