London Contemporary Dance School alumni announced as participants of FreeSpace and PEER, two of Studio Wayne McGregor's artist development programmes.
FreeSpace is a new artist development and community engagement programme that offers studio space free of charge for creation, research and rehearsal. In return FreeSpace artists will give their time and expertise to deliver creative engagement projects within schools and communities. This programme will support artists to explore innovation in new directions, form an artists’ incubation and innovation community, and provide inspiring learning opportunities led by professional practising artists to thousands of participants each year. The first year’s cohort of FreeSpace artists includes the following London Contemporary Dance School alumni: Laila Diallo, James Cousins Company, New Movement Collective (including Joe Walking) and Freddie Opoku-Addaie.
PEER is a year-long mentoring programme for final year vocational dance students and recent graduates. Participants will take part in company class and creative labs, professional development sessions by Studio Wayne McGregor staff, and mentoring by Company Wayne McGregor dancers, to gain exposure to life as a professional dancer and develop a peer network. The first cohort of PEER participants includes London Contemporary Dance School alumnus Richard Pye.
