Maya Levy

An award winning artist distinguished by her insightful observations and ability to integrate various stage methods, creating an authentic language, virtuosic, rhythmical, eloquent and witty.

Born in Israel (1978), Maya began her dance career as a student at the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts. In 1998 she joined the Liat Dror Nir Ben Gal Dance Company and honed her skills to become a professional. In 2001 she enrolled at the School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem where she completed her studies towards a Degree in Dance & Education. Upon graduation Maya pursued her career as an independent choreographer developing distinctive powerful and dynamic aesthetics.
Alongside her laurelled creative career Maya cultivates her ties with the community as an educator at the School of Visual Theatre, a curator of several festivals, Artistic Director at HaZira Interdisciplinary Performance Arts Stage, and a mentor to many young artists.

Her encounter with Hanan Anando Mars has created a fruitful partnership in life and on stage, cultivating their own intimate space as a family and a home for fellow dancers and creators. Together they have made: Net-Work – duet on a trampoline (2010), Trans-Parent an 8 hour marathon on stage with multiple discipline artists (2011) and Renaissance (2013). Their unique language and straightforwardness with an ability to communicate with audience make their work a great value to the art community in Israel.
