There are a variety of ways for you to ensure that The Place derives the maximum possible value from your gift in support of our work.
Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer then you can Gift Aid your donations to The Place. Gift Aid allows us to reclaim an extra 25p in tax from the Inland Revenue for every £1 you donate at no additional cost to yourself.
To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in income tax or capital gains tax must be at least equal to the amount we will claim in tax each year.
Just tick the Gift Aid box on your donation form (printed or online) and we will do the rest. Alternatively, you can complete a separate Gift Aid declaration form which will allow us to claim Gift Aid on all your future donations.
Legacies – Remembering The Place in your will
A gift to The Place in your will is not subject to inheritance tax. The current inheritance tax threshold is £325,000; anything above this is liable to tax at 40%. Once you have taken care of your family and loved ones in your will, please consider leaving a legacy to support the future of contemporary dance. Making a will is relatively easy and if you have already made a will, a charitable legacy can be added by making a simple amendment called a Codicil.
From Fri 6 April 2012, if you leave a legacy of more than 10% of your net estates value to charity, you will receive a reduction in the rate of Inheritance Tax you are liable to pay e.g. 36% instead of the usual 40% on the remainder of your estate.
Share Giving
Share giving is one of the most tax efficient ways to give. Individual donors can obtain income tax relief and avoid paying capital gains tax.If you would like to know more about the options, please contact Stephen Clarke, Director of Development.
Giving from the United States
The Place is supported by the American Fund for Charities, a US tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organisation. By donating through the American Fund for Charities you can ask for your gift to be passed to The Place and be assured that your donation is tax deductable to the extent allowed by law.
To make a gift through the American Fund for Charities please complete and return this form, or alternatively you can make a gift online. If you have any questions please contact the American Fund for Charities by visiting http://www.americanfund.info/
