Michael Kitchin studied a foundation course at Northern School of Contemporary Dance followed by a BA (Hons) at London Contemporary Dance School which included four months study at Purchase College, State University of New York. Whilst in New York Michael performed in The Nutcracker and worked with dance artists and choreographers such as Ted Kivitt, Bettijane Sills, Kevin Wynn, Minha Cha, Jiwon Lee and Marissa Joseph. During his training Michael worked with Tom Dale, Frauke Requardt, Robert Clarke, Simon Birch, Fearghus O'Conchuir and Fiona Chaney.

He has a background in theatre and voice, and has a passion for choreography. Michael has a strong interest in improvisation and its benefits within process and performance. His performance experience includes touring Bitter, Sweet and Dark with DoraFrankel Dance Company; improvisation festivals such as Does My Art Look Big in This?, Sssh Boom Sssh Boom and ArtEvict. Michael is excited to be a part of EDge12, and to work with such a diverse and exciting group of dancers and choreographers.
